AMAC Water Products is Pleased to Announce That We Are Now the Houston-area Distributor for AFM Products…and We Can Deliver Them to Your Door!!!

It’s a simple fact that the air we breathe in our homes, schools and workplaces is far worse than the air we breathe outdoors…even in Houston. And it’s important that we do what we can to “clean up” our indoor air. What we breathe matters.

Many people are buying air filters in an effort to improve their indoor air quality; however, very few of us have been educated as to just what the major contributors to poor indoor air quality are. Unfortunately, many of the most problematic chemicals in our homes emanate from building materials. Are you aware that most paints are loaded with formaldehyde (which is known to cause lung cancer and which contributes hugely to indoor air quality problems)? Or that particle board and plywood offgas not only formaldehyde but other problematic VOCs (volatile organic compounds) that are known to adversely affect human health? Or that carpeting offgasses hazardous chemicals for up to 20 years?

There is a company, American Formulating and Manufacturing (AFM), that has answers as to what we can do to reduce or contain a lot of these chemicals, and we at AMAC, after using their products for years, have recently become AFM’s Houston-area distributor. It is now possible for us to deliver their premium products direct to homes and offices just as we deliver bottled water and other products.

AFM is dedicated to providing products that create the safest, most toxic-free environments possible. Focusing on human health and the elimination of toxicity, they have virtually eliminated the use of hazardous or toxic materials, reducing offgassing to the lowest possible levels, and have developed products that are often the solution to indoor air quality problems. They specialize in premium no-VOC and low-VOC paints, stains, sealants and adhesives, as well as offering products as diverse as all-purpose cleaners, degreasers, carpet shampoos and sealants, and a head and body shampoo.

As an example of what one of their products, Super Clean, can do: Most clothing that you buy has been pre-treated with formaldehyde (it’s the best preservative known to man). A great formula to remove the formaldehyde from your clothes is to wash the garment once (preferably in hot water) with one-half cup of Super Clean, followed by a second wash with a small amount of vinegar, followed by a third wash with a small amount of baking soda. This will remove the vast majority of the formaldehyde. Two exceptions to this are 1) anything labeled “permanent press” or “wrinkle-resistant” (this type of clothing has been infused with a formaldehyde resin that you cannot wash out), and 2) polyester (polyester is a formaldehyde-based plastic and, as such, it continually offgasses formaldehyde).

AFM products have an over 20-year history of safe use even by the chemically sensitive/ environmentally ill and they are recommended by doctors and by “green” architects and builders knowledgeable about indoor air quality problems.
